The new 2022 Subaru WRX is more expensive than ever before—particularly the new GT trim level, which tops out at $40,000. The base price of the WRX increases by $1680 to $30,100, and the new model will also include $32,600 Premium and $36,990 Limited trim levels in addition to the new $42,890 WRX GT, which will unfortunately only be available with the optional CVT automatic transmission.
Certain performance options, such as adaptive dampers and larger 18-inch wheels, are reserved for the automatic-only GT (17-inchers are standard on other models). In comparison to the base cars, the GT features more desirable Recaro front seats and additional drive modes.
Subaru previously informed us that automatic-transmission WRX models were impacted by supply-chain issues, so you may have a better chance of locating a car with a clutch pedal once they begin to arrive at dealerships. Subaru is now accepting reservations on its website but has not specified an exact start date for deliveries.
