Porsche consolidated the Macan lineup for 2022, replacing the Turbo with an upgraded GTS equipped with the 434-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 found in the previous Turbo. However, Porsche is expanding the Macan lineup once more for 2023, with the introduction of a new Macan T that will sit between the base model and the Macan S. The Macan T, like the 718 and 911 T versions, aims to provide a more precise driving experience through the use of standard performance equipment.
The 2023 Macan T will be powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four as the base model, producing 261 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and weighs 129 pounds less than the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 found in the S and GTS models, according to Porsche. This results in more agile handling and improved cornering. The Macan T, like all Macans, will be all-wheel drive.
The Macan T will come standard with the Sport Chrono package, which includes a driving mode selector on the steering wheel, launch control, and an analog and digital stopwatch. Porsche Active Suspension Management is also included, and the all-wheel-drive system has been tweaked to deliver more power to the rear wheels. Additionally, models equipped with the optional air suspension receive stiffer anti-roll bars, while the optional torque-vectoring system receives a tune-up. Porsche claims the Macan T will accelerate to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and top out at 144 mph, matching the base model's performance claims.
The exterior trim is painted in Agate Grey Metallic, the side blades feature a black Macan T logo, and the exhaust pipes and side window surrounds are black. Instead of the 19-inch wheels found on the base Macan, the T rides on 20-inch Macan S wheels. The Macan T's interior features eight-way power heated sports seats wrapped in a distinctive upholstery with an embossed Porsche crest in the headrest. Silver stitching accents the seats and steering wheel, and a heated GT sport steering wheel is standard.
The Macan T will go on sale in early spring. Pricing will be revealed closer to the on-sale date, but we anticipate it will begin around $62,000.
