Not only that, there are lots of health complaints that can arise due to hot weather. Conditions such as heat stroke, dehydration, and skin problems are becoming more common. Therefore, you must know how to maintain healthy skin in extreme weather. Want to know how? Check it out below!

Tips for Maintaining Healthy Skin in Hot Weather

The skin is one part of the body that is very prone to problems when the weather is hot. You can take care of your skin by getting used to certain things, such as:

1. Maintain skin hydration by drinking water

Hot weather will increase the amount of water that comes out of the body in the form of sweat. This makes you feel dehydrated faster. Make no mistake, dehydration does not only occur in the throat. The skin can also become dehydrated if it doesn't get enough fluids, causing irritation, redness, and dry skin.

To maintain skin hydration, make sure you drink lots of water before you get thirsty. You can carry a spray bottle of water with you wherever you go so you can rehydrate your face when it's dry. Finally, you can also use lotion or moisturizer so that the liquid inside the skin is maintained.

2. Wear appropriate clothing

Don't get the wrong costume when traveling. When the weather is hot, it's best to wear clothes with light and loose material on the body. You can look for cotton or linen that absorbs sweat rather than leather, polyester, or wool, which keep heat out.

Then, also pay attention to the color of your clothes. Wearing dark clothes will make you feel hotter because dark colors absorb heat more. Choose bright colors like white, cream, or pastels to cool your body.

3. Take shelter during the day

The hottest sunlight is from 11 am to 3 pm. Well, as much as possible at this time you stay away from direct sunlight. If you push yourself, not only can the sun damage your skin, you will also overheat due to the high temperature. You can take shelter indoors and not do activities such as sports during these hours.

4. Use sunscreen

An important way to maintain healthy skin during hot weather is not to forget to wear sunblock or sunscreen. Using sunblock is the best way to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. When you use a minimum SPF 30 sunscreen before leaving the house, you can reduce the risk of sunburn and dry skin.

In fact, medical experts also say that you still need to use sunscreen even if you are not exposed to the hot sun.

The Danger of Hot Weather on the Skin and Its Symptoms

When hot weather is extreme, you will have a higher risk of experiencing skin problems. In addition, extreme weather can also bring skin diseases that will not appear in ordinary weather.

If your skin is experiencing problems due to the weather, there are symptoms that can appear, such as:

  • Skin looks and feels dry.
  • The part of the skin exposed to the sun looks red.
  • Itchy or sore feeling on the skin.
  • Small bumps in the sweaty area.

Sometimes these complaints can be overcome by using lotions or health products for the skin. However, in certain cases this complaint can be the beginning of a more serious skin disease.
